Since C.A.R.E.'s inception on 6/27/2007, 118 transports, 2,482 dogs and 236 cats saved through transport (TOTAL ANIMALS TRANSPORTED = 2,718)
Mission Statement
The mission of C.A.R.E. is to arrange and provide safe transportation for domestic animals who are going to approved rescues, shelters, and adoptive homes.
Operations
Twice a week, C.A.R.E. arranges and provides the safe transportation of dogs and cats from high-kill Midwest shelters who are going to Colorado-based rescue groups or adoptive homes. C.A.R.E. works with over 65 Colorado rescue organizations who commit to taking the homeless animals into foster care for proper assessment and placement. C.A.R.E also transports for several remote Colorado shelters who need help moving animals to local rescues.
An average transport consists of renting multiple vans in Denver and Kansas City to move approximately 25 animals. Vans are also rented in other locations if needed. At this time, C.A.R.E. is saving animals from Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Kentucky and Nebraska. On October 18, 2008, C.A.R.E. completed its first transport to save animals in New Mexico.
Donations and grants are needed to cover the rental van charges, gasoline, and the purchase and maintenance of transport supplies. With outside donations to C.A.R.E., the rescue groups receiving the animals will have more funds available to cover their necessary veterinary and foster care expenses.
