Funding Sterilization Programs in Mississippi & Georgia
Thanks to a generous $15,000 grant, Colorado Animal Rescue Express (C.A.R.E.) was able to help fund 825 spay and neuter surgeries in Mississippi and Georgia through June 2025. Our funding has had a powerful impact in regions overwhelmed by per overpopulation.
Mississippi and Georgia face a severe shortage of shelters, veterinarians, and educational resources. In many areas of both states, countless animals are abandoned, neglected or euthanized. Georgia is consistently ranked among the top five states contributing to pet overpopulation, and Mississippi has one of the lowest shelter save rates in the nation. These states lack affordable sterilization programs, leaving low-income pet owners with few options.
On June 20, C.A.R.E. was notified of additional grant funding to continue sponsoring sterilization services in Mississippi and Georgia. Please watch this 90 second video on work in these states:
